A 2013 SAL Start - Ann Bowers Sampler

As mentioned in yesterday's post, I have signed up to participate in Attic Needlework's SAL of Examplarery's Ann Bowers Sampler.

I started early, two days ago...Below is my progress through last night.  I had stitched most of the day yesterday until the Redskins-Cowboys Football game!  The 'Skins are my team!  I had to watch every minute....I'm so happy they didn't blow it at the end:) HTTR! (Hail to the Redskins)

I am going to like the Ann Bowers Sampler.  I got the 35 count silk kit.  My husband gave it to me for my Christmas present this year!  Thank-you, Honey;)

Does anyone know if Attic Needlework will have a blog or Yahoo group for this SAL?  Does Jean want us to send her progress pic's.  I have never done a SAL with Attic Needlework before.

Thanks for stopping by:)

Tomorrow, I will start my Scarlet Letter Sampler....Emma Miles.  I have the chart and silks.  I have tons of linen...I'm not yet sure what linen I will pick....stay tuned...I'll let you know tomorrow:)

Happy New Year!

A Little Progress Update - Merry Cox Piece

One of the classes that I took in Williamsburg at the first of the month was a sweet piece by Merry Cox called "A Young Lady's Workbox".

I've completed the stitching for the Pin Keep, Pincushion and the Workbox Case.  It's going to be a quick piece....and that is saying a lot for a Merry Cox piece.  I see myself wrapping this one up at the end of January 2013.

I have also committed myself to two SAL's for 2013.  Of course, the Nicola's Scarlet Letter Year SAL (I'm stitching Emma Miles) and Attic Needleworks SAL on Examplarery's Ann Bowers Sampler.

Below is my 12/9/2012 progress picture on the Merry Cox Piece:

Tomorrow, I will show you my progress on Ann Bowers....

Off to the Colonial Capitol

The day has arrived!  I will be attending Just Cross Stitch's "A Christmas in Williamsburg" Seminar!  What a wonderful seminar.  I have gone many times before and it is wonderful!  I will be taking a morning class with Merry Cox and an afternoon class with Jackie duPlessis! Registration is this afternoon.  The boutique, which is awesome, opens up at 3pm and there will be a dinner this evening honoring Merry Cox!

Since I live close to Williamsburg, I will be commuting back a forth each day to the seminar.  It's a 55 minute drive and I listen to Chrismas music along the way!  It's a wonderful way to get yourself in the holiday mood!

Well, I'm off!

Emma Miles 1848 Sampler

As I mentioned in my last blog entry, I will be participating in Nicola's Scarlet Letter Year Challenge by stitching up Scarlet Letter's Emma Miles 1848 Sampler.  I have ordered the chart and it should be sent to me the first of next week, along with Joanne Harvey's Ann Bowers Sampler. I am also participating in an Attic Needlework SAL for the Ann Bowers Sampler. I just LOVE samplers:)

So that I can get my ducks in a row for Nicola's Challenge I need some help from those that already have this chart in their stash.  Can anyone tell me the size of the sampler...how many stitches wide and tall?  Also, I would like to stitch this with AVAS silks.  Do you know if that is what is provided on the chart?  If so, can anyone give me the AVAS numbers?

Lastly, what is the suggested linen?  I love to stitch on 36 count.  So I'm hoping to use that count fabric.

Here is a picture of Emma's Sampler from the Wye Needlecraft Website:

Until next time,

Another Finished-Finished Project

As promised, here is one of my finished-finished samplers back from my framer.  It is the Sampler aux Bouquets from Javin Prive.  She is a looker!  Now, I have to find a place to hang her in my house...mmmmmmm...I am running out of wall space!

Tomorrow's update will show the third framed piece I just got back....Want to guess what it is?  It's spooky!

I love seeing a finished piece of stitching!

On Friday, I went to Virginia Beach to pick up some framing!  I had given my framer three pieces to frame and I will share them with you over the next few days.

The first piece is from Heartstring Samplery called "E Pluribus Unum".  I stitched this for my son who is a legislative aide for a delegate in Virginia's General Assembly. I thought this would be perfect for him.

I will stop by here tomorrow with another picture for you!
